Updating old kitchen
I brought the strips home, cut them to length and attached them around the edges of the cabinet doors with a brad nailer. Ladies, if you’ve never used a saw and a nail gun, you must. This is how the doors looked after the trim was added. Of course, I took a day and caulked the cracks and holes and prepped the doors and drawers for painting.
This instantly makes it look like you have miles of countertop when you may only have a few square feet. Then assess the actual countertop itself: Is it in good shape? Clear it off, clean it up, sand and oil any butcher block, and fix grout issues.
I rinsed the doors and drawers with water and let them dry completely.
Next, I used Goof-Off and steel wool to remove the grease residue.
If your kitchen ceiling is flat, it probably has one or more light fixtures mounted to it’s surface. It involves removing the old fixtures, installing the recessed lights, and repairing any ceiling damage left over from the old light fixtures.
If your home was built between the 1970’s and the 1990’s, you may have a soffit ceiling with a raised portion in the center.
